Born from a darkness within my shadow, I tell myself I have no right to embrace such pain again because I deserve much better. So in an attempt to leave it behind my mind shoves a familiar itch to a hidden corner. Eventually I forget how I was bothered and sometimes where it even came from. And so my bedtime thoughts continue to rot in a secret place where no one is welcome. I convince myself every night that I’m used to being alone when in reality a million hands are awaiting my fall. My anxiety knows they look right through my charming smiles and innocent chuckles. But how can anyone help someone who pretends to be happy and ignores a presence within that desires an understanding ear.
